Last checked: October 14, 2026. Card credits are use-it-or-lose-it: miss the deadline and the money is gone. This page tracks 122 credits, certificates and quarterly activations on 47 cards, when each one resets, and how many days you have left. Tick your cards below and you get your own list, soonest deadline first, plus calendar reminders if you want them. Every credit comes from the card’s own page and benefit terms. Quick Take
- Unused credits don’t roll over. A monthly credit you skip in October is gone on November 1, and the same goes for quarterly, half-year and yearly ones. (Bilt Cash is the rare exception: up to $100 carries into the next year.)
- There are two clocks. Most credits follow the calendar: every month, every quarter, January–June and July–December, or the calendar year. Others follow your card year, which starts on the day you opened the account.
- The calendar deadlines: the last day of every month, plus March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31. December 31 is the big one: yearly credits and the second half of half-year credits all end that day.
- Card-year credits catch people out. The Sapphire Reserve’s $300 travel credit, the Sapphire Preferred’s $100 hotel credit and the Venture X’s $300 travel credit reset on your account anniversary, not January 1. So do free night and companion certificates, which usually last about 12 months from the day they’re issued.
- A credit is only worth what you’d have spent anyway. The calendar helps you use the ones you’d use; it doesn’t make the others worth chasing.
1. Your Credit Calendar
Tick the cards you have. If a card has credits that reset on your card anniversary, you’ll be asked for the month you opened it (no exact dates, nothing to sign up for). The list shows what ends in the next 30 days by default; switch to 90 days or All for the rest. Add reminders to my calendar downloads one file that works with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook: a monthly reminder on the 24th, one a week or so before each quarter and half-year ends, one on December 10 for the yearly credits, and one a month before each card anniversary.

2. When Do Credit Card Credits Reset?
Every credit on this page runs on one of these schedules. The issuer’s terms decide which, and two credits on the same card often run on different ones: the Sapphire Reserve’s travel credit resets on your card anniversary, while its Edit hotel credit resets on January 1.

A card year starts on the day you opened the account, not the first of that month, and the bank decides exactly when the reset posts. That’s why the calendar above shows card-year deadlines as “about”: it counts to the end of the month before your anniversary month, which leaves you a little room.
3. Which Credits Expire on December 31?
These statement credits all end on December 31: the calendar-year ones in full, and the July–December half of the half-year ones. Quarterly and monthly credits also end that day, for the October–December quarter and for December.

4. How Long Do Free Night and Companion Certificates Last?
Certificates don’t reset; they expire, usually about 12 months after they land in your account. For hotel free nights the stay itself has to be finished by then, not just booked. For the airline companion certificates it varies: Delta wants you to book and fly before it expires, while Alaska’s only need to be booked in time.
- Delta Platinum Amex: Companion certificate. A second Main Cabin round trip in the U.S., Caribbean or Central America for taxes and fees ($22 to $250). Issued after each renewal; book and fly within 1 year of issue.
- Delta Reserve Amex: Companion certificate. A round trip in Delta First, Comfort or Main in the U.S., Mexico, the Caribbean or Central America for taxes and fees. Issued after each renewal; book and fly within 1 year of issue.
- Hilton Aspire: Free Night Reward. Any standard room at almost any Hilton, no points cap. Issued in the first year and after each renewal; the stay must be completed within 1 year of issue.
- Marriott Brilliant: Free Night Award (up to 85,000 points). Issued after each renewal; the stay must be completed within 12 months of issue.
- United Quest: United TravelBank cash. $200 deposited each anniversary for United flights; it expires 12 months after it's issued.
- IHG Premier: Anniversary free night (up to 50,000 points). You can add points to book a pricier hotel. Use it within 12 months of issue.
- IHG Premier Select: Anniversary free night (up to 60,000 points). You can add points to book a pricier hotel. Use it within 12 months of issue.
- Marriott Boundless: Free Night Award (up to 35,000 points). Issued each account anniversary; the stay must be completed within 12 months of issue. Resort fees still apply.
- World of Hyatt: Category 1-4 free night. Issued each cardmember anniversary; use it within 12 months of issue. A second one comes after $15,000 in a calendar year.
- Citi AA Globe: Companion certificate. Domestic round-trip Main Cabin companion for $99 plus taxes, from your second year. Citi doesn't publish how long it's valid; check the expiration date on the certificate.
- Alaska Atmos Ascent: Famous Companion Fare. A second seat for $99 plus taxes, issued each anniversary only after $6,000 in purchases in the prior card year. Book within 1 year of issue; travel can be later.
- Alaska Atmos Summit: Global Companion Award (25,000 points). Up to 25,000 points off a companion's award ticket when you fly on the same award itinerary. Issued each anniversary; book within 1 year of issue, travel can be later.
- Lufthansa card: Companion Ticket. Issued after each account anniversary; taxes and fees apply. Barclays doesn't publish how long it's valid; check the date on the voucher.

6. What’s Not on This List
- Global Entry, TSA PreCheck and NEXUS credits. They come around every four years, not every year. The travel benefits guide lists which cards have them.
- Rewards you earn by spending, such as the Hilton Surpass free night after $15,000, the Delta Gold $200 flight credit after $10,000 or the Hyatt card’s second free night. They don’t arrive on a fixed date, so there’s nothing to count down. (The Alaska Ascent companion fare is on the list because it’s issued on your anniversary once you’ve met the spend.)
- One-time and first-year credits, such as the Capital One Venture’s first-year travel credit.
- Bonus points and miles that post on your anniversary. They don’t expire with the card year.
- Credits whose timing the bank doesn’t state at all, such as the JetBlue Plus card’s $100 vacation package credit. Where a bank says “once a year” but not which year, the credit is listed with that caveat and no countdown.
Benefits change, sometimes with little notice. If a date here and your card’s terms disagree, the terms win; this page is checked and updated when banks change their cards.
7. Quick Answers
When do Amex Platinum credits reset?
On the calendar, not your card anniversary. The Uber Cash, digital entertainment and Walmart+ credits reset monthly; Resy and lululemon each calendar quarter; the hotel credit on June 30 and December 31; and the airline fee, CLEAR+, Equinox, Oura and Uber One credits on December 31.
Does the Chase Sapphire Reserve $300 travel credit reset on January 1?
No. It resets on your card year, which starts on the day you opened the account. The Reserve's Edit hotel credit is different: it runs on the calendar year and resets January 1, and its dining and StubHub credits reset June 30 and December 31.
Do unused credit card credits roll over?
No. Almost every card credit is use-it-or-lose-it for its period, whether that's a month, a quarter, six months or a year. Bilt Cash is the main exception: up to $100 of it carries into the next year.
How long do hotel free night certificates from credit cards last?
About 12 months from the day they're issued for the Hilton, Marriott, World of Hyatt and IHG cards, and the stay has to be completed by the expiration date, not just booked.
What's the difference between a calendar year and a card year?
A calendar year runs January 1 to December 31 for everyone. A card year (also called a cardmember or anniversary year) starts on the day your account was opened, so it's different for every cardholder. Card terms say which one each credit uses.
