Wyndham Rewards Sweet Spots: Best Uses of Wyndham Points

Wyndham Rewards covers thousands of mostly economy and midscale hotels (Days Inn, Super 8, La Quinta, Ramada), plus vacation club resorts, UK cottages, and Caesars casino hotels. Points come from stays, the Wyndham Earner cards, and transfers from Chase, Capital One, Citi, Wells Fargo, and Bilt.

What sets it apart is a fixed chart with no seasonal pricing, and free nights that include taxes and resort fees, so the points price is usually the whole bill.

Every points price below comes from the program’s own award chart or booking site, and every cash price is what the same room actually cost on the night shown.

Quick Take

  • Free nights cost 5,000, 15,000, 30,000, or 45,000 points, depending on the hotel’s tier, with taxes and resort fees included.
  • The best uses are Wyndham Grand hotels like Rio Mar in Puerto Rico and Clearwater Beach in Florida, and all-inclusives, on dates when the cash rate is high.
  • All-inclusive free nights cover meals and drinks for two at the same fixed price, with taxes included.
  • Vacation club condos start at 5,000 points per bedroom per night (two-night minimum).
  • The Earner Premier card takes 25% off every award night.
  • Caesars hotels charge resort fees in cash on award nights, and Vacasa rentals ended Dec 1, 2025.
  • Many top hotels moved to the new 45,000-point tier on Sept 15, 2026, including every hotel on this list, so check the tier before you transfer.

1. How Wyndham Prices Awards

Since Sept 15, 2026 every free night costs 5,000, 15,000, 30,000 or 45,000 points, depending on the hotel’s tier. Wyndham added the 45,000 tier for its most upscale hotels and moved thousands of hotels between tiers. The 15,000 and 30,000 prices didn’t change, and the old 7,500 bottom tier became 5,000. There are no blackout dates at regular hotels, but Caesars properties, vacation clubs, and cottages have blackouts, and condos and cottages are priced per bedroom.

Because the price is fixed by tier rather than by date, the value comes from booking dates when the cash rate is high. It also comes from hotels that landed in a low tier and from awards that bundle in extras: meals at all-inclusives, resort fees, and a kitchen in a condo.

Free nights: points per room per night

Every hotel is in one of four tiers, with no seasonal pricing; a free night includes taxes and resort fees at regular Wyndham hotels. Vacation club condos and UK cottages are priced per bedroom, and Caesars hotels still charge their resort fee in cash.

2. The Best Uses of Wyndham Points

Wyndham doesn’t really have aspirational hotels of the same type the other programs do (Park Hyatt, Waldorf Astoria, Ritz-Carlton, and the like). Instead, its nicest hotels are the Wyndham Grand hotels, with the all-inclusives as the other good option, so that’s what much of this list is. Some good values also appear at the lowest end, if those work for you, but they’re pretty low end compared to the other chains (they’re in section 3).

The recent devaluation stung quite a bit for the nicer properties. On September 15, 2026, Wyndham added a new 45,000-point top tier, and every hotel below landed in it.

The points prices below were the same on every date I checked, and the cash prices are Wyndham’s own rates for the same room on the nights mentioned, for two adults.

Wyndham Grand hotels

Wyndham Grand is Wyndham’s top brand, and these are the ones I’d use points for. Free nights include taxes and the resort fee, which matters at these hotels: it’s 24% of the room rate at Rio Mar, $35 a night at Clearwater Beach, and $42 at Bonnet Creek.

1. Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Rainforest Beach and Golf Resort

45k points/night

Among the pricier hotels Wyndham has, and it generally gets good reviews: 600 acres between El Yunque rainforest and the Atlantic, with five pools, about two miles of beach, two golf courses, a casino, and a spa. It’s also expensive in cash, which is what makes it a good award: on Tuesday, January 19, 2027, the entry room was $1,101 with taxes and the resort fee, against 45,000 points: about 2.4 cents a point. A November Tuesday was $551, so pick your dates.

  • Where: Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, about 30 minutes from San Juan’s airport
  • Price: 45,000 points a night for a standard room (Rainforest, Pool, or Ocean view; no suites)

The catches:

  • Points + Cash nights pay the resort fee (24% of the rate); free nights don’t.
  • Parking is $20 a day to self-park or $27 for valet.
  • You have to be 21 to check in, and the hotel holds $150 a day on your card.
  • Around New Year, short award stays may not show up, so search the whole week.

2. Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach

45k points/night

Always well reviewed, and one of the most common hotels people redeem Wyndham points for: 343 rooms, every one with a water or marina view, steps from Clearwater Beach. Value depends on the season. A Saturday during spring break (March 20, 2027) was $953.72 with taxes and the resort fee against 45,000 points, about 2.1 cents a point, while a Tuesday in November was $445, when paying cash makes more sense.

  • Where: Clearwater Beach, Florida, across from Pier 60
  • Price: 45,000 points a night for an Intracoastal View room

The catches:

  • Only the Intracoastal View rooms can be booked with points; Gulf-view rooms can’t.
  • The pool and pool deck are closed for renovation from Nov 1, 2026 to Jan 1, 2027.
  • Valet parking is $40 a day plus tax.

3. Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek

45k points/night

A good option for a Disney World trip: it’s inside the Disney gates with a shuttle to the parks, and has five pools, two lazy rivers, mini golf, and a lake. The catch is that it isn’t expensive in cash, so 45,000 points is a stretch on most nights. Even a Saturday during spring break (March 20, 2027) was $439.88 with taxes and the resort fee, just under 1 cent a point, and a November weeknight was $260. It makes the most sense when you have Wyndham points you’d like to use and the cash rate is at its peak.

  • Where: Inside the Walt Disney World gates, Orlando, with a shuttle to the parks
  • Price: 45,000 points a night for a Deluxe King or Deluxe 2 Queen room

The catches:

  • Only the Deluxe King and Deluxe 2 Queen rooms can be booked with points; lake-view and balcony rooms can’t.
  • Parking is $36 a day to self-park or $42 for valet, plus tax.
  • Points + Cash nights pay the $42 resort fee; free nights don’t.

All-inclusive resorts

An all-inclusive free night covers the room, meals, and drinks for two people, and Wyndham’s free nights include the taxes too, so the points price is the whole bill. The price doesn’t change with the season, which makes holiday and spring break weeks the best time to use points.

The rules to know: the award covers two guests, and a third guest’s food, drinks, resort fee, and taxes are charged at the resort at check-in (at some resorts the room isn’t offered for points at all with three adults). Points only book the resort’s base room type, and award space can disappear around Christmas and New Year. Wyndham Earner cardholders get their usual 10% to 25% off these nights too.

4. Grand Palladium Select Costa Mujeres

45k points/night

A big family all-inclusive with 673 suites, three pools, a water park, kids’ clubs for every age, the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre, and nine restaurants, so it’s not adults-only (its neighbor TRS Coral is, and costs the same points). A Saturday during spring break (March 20, 2027) was $1,303 for two with taxes against 45,000 points, close to 2.9 cents a point, while regular weeks run about $670 to $700 for two (about 1.5 cents). It was 30,000 points before September 15, 2026.

  • Where: Costa Mujeres, about 17 km north of Cancún
  • Price: 45,000 points a night for two in a Junior Suite

The catches:

  • Only the base Junior Suite can be booked with points.
  • No award space showed around New Year, and some spring break nights were cash-only.
  • Room service carries a $15 delivery fee, and airport transfers cost extra.

5. Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lord’s Castle All Inclusive Resort

45k points/night

Opened in 2023 on a cliff above the beach, next to the old Sam Lord’s Castle, with 422 rooms, six pools with swim-up bars, and a spa. Barbados is expensive, and so is this resort, which is what makes it work on points: the Tuesday after Christmas (December 29, 2026) was $1,224 for two all in, against 45,000 points, about 2.7 cents a point, and a Tuesday in January was $913 (about 2 cents).

  • Where: St. Philip, on Barbados’s southeast coast, about 15 minutes from the airport
  • Price: 45,000 points a night for two in a Deluxe King Resort View room

The catches:

  • Only the Deluxe King Resort View room can be booked with points, and with three adults it wasn’t offered for points at all.
  • Cash bookings need cancelling seven days ahead, but award nights are more flexible.

3. Other Ways to Use Wyndham Points

Not hotel picks, but the rules and cheaper options that can stretch Wyndham points, including the low-end hotels that cost only 5,000 points.

1. The new 5,000-point tier

The bottom tier fell from 7,500 to 5,000 points on Sept 15, 2026, and thousands of hotels changed tiers, some moving down. A 5,000-point night includes taxes, and on a Nov 12–13 search near New York a 5,000-point Super 8 in the Meadowlands sold for $178.91 after tax, the same night other Super 8s nearby cost 15,000 or 30,000 points.

  • What: Hotels in the lowest redemption tier (mostly economy and midscale brands, plus some hotels that moved down on Sept 15, 2026)
  • Price: 5,000 points per room per night
  • Taxes and fees: None at Participating Hotels: the free night covers local taxes and resort/facility fees.
  • Cash price: $178.91 after tax at Super 8 by Wyndham Meadowlands, New Jersey, and $79.19 at Days Inn by Wyndham Orlando Downtown, against 5,000 points at both (Thu, Nov 12, 2026)

The catches:

  • Wyndham doesn’t publish a hotel-by-tier list, so you find tiers by searching dates and hotels.
  • Tiers can change: thousands of hotels moved in Sept 2026, both up and down.
  • Standard room only, and the hotel’s minimum-stay rules still apply.
  • Free nights earn no points (they do count as qualifying nights).

2. Vacation club condos priced per bedroom

A one-bedroom suite with a kitchen and living room costs the same points per bedroom as a single hotel room in the same tier, and Wyndham now prices select resorts from 5,000 points per bedroom for stays of two or more nights.

  • What: Club Wyndham, WorldMark, Margaritaville, and Shell Vacations Club resorts (one- to three-bedroom suites with kitchens)
  • Price: From 5,000 points per bedroom per night (2-night minimum); others 15,000, 30,000 or 45,000 per bedroom
  • Taxes and fees: Taxes and resort/facility fees are covered; daily housekeeping is extra, and every reservation needs a credit card for a $150 refundable security deposit at check-in.

The catches:

  • Two-night minimum at every vacation club resort.
  • Blackout dates apply, and only a limited number of units are offered for points.
  • You pay for every bedroom, so a two-bedroom unit at 15,000 per bedroom is 30,000 a night.
  • Several Hawaii, NYC (Club Wyndham Midtown 45), and San Francisco resorts are now 30,000 per bedroom; Club Wyndham Smoky Mountains and Kingsgate are 15,000.
  • Free nights cancel without penalty only up to 72 hours before check-in, by phone.
  • Mixing award and paid nights takes a call to Wyndham Rewards Vacation Clubs (1-800-809-6480).

3. Earner cardholder discount on every award night

Wyndham Earner cardholders pay fewer points per free night: 10% off with the Earner, Earner Plus, and Earner Access, and with business cards opened before June 17, 2026; 20% off with business cards opened on or after that date; 25% off with the Earner Premier. Earner Premier points also don’t expire while the card is open.

  • What: All free-night types (hotels, Caesars, vacation clubs, cottages)
  • Price: 10% to 25% off: e.g., 45,000 becomes 33,750 with the Earner Premier
  • Taxes and fees: Same as the underlying free night.

The catches:

  • To book online, your balance must cover the full price, even though only the discounted amount is deducted.
  • For cottages, the discount applies only by phone.
  • You need the full undiscounted balance to book online; with only enough for the discounted price, call Member Services.

4. Caesars hotels in Las Vegas and other casino towns

Vegas room rates swing hard by date, and the fixed points price only pays off when the cash rate is high. On one January night Harrah’s was 15,000 points against a $316 cash rate, while Flamingo wanted 30,000 points for a room selling for about $66, so the tier matters more than the hotel’s name.

  • What: Participating Caesars Rewards properties (Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Reno, Lake Tahoe, and more)
  • Price: 15,000, 30,000 or 45,000 points per night, depending on property
  • Taxes and fees: Resort fees are charged on every award night, in cash at check-in, and vary by property; taxes on the room rate are covered.
  • Cash price: On the same night (Wed, Jan 13, 2027): Harrah’s Las Vegas 15,000 points; Caesars Palace 45,000 points; Paris Las Vegas 30,000 points; Flamingo Las Vegas 30,000 points. The award nights still charge a resort fee.

The catches:

  • Caesars Palace Las Vegas is in the 45,000-point tier, while Harrah’s, Horseshoe, and The LINQ were 15,000 and Paris, Planet Hollywood, and Flamingo 30,000, so the cheap Vegas nights are at the 15,000-point hotels.
  • Resort fees can’t be paid with points.
  • Blackout dates and blackout rates apply (unlike regular Wyndham hotels).
  • Free nights are never available for Saturday nights at Caesars Palace Las Vegas or Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace.
  • Can’t be combined with Points + Cash nights in the same stay.
  • Wyndham’s Caesars page footnote still says 15,000–30,000 points, while the terms say 15,000, 30,000 or 45,000.
  • Status match to Caesars needs Platinum or Diamond earned from stays, not from the credit card (since Feb 1, 2025).
  • In the US and Canada, cancellations go through Wyndham Rewards by phone.

5. Discounted nights with points plus cash

Useful when you’re short of a free night’s points, and unlike a free night, the cash portion earns points at most hotels.

  • What: Participating hotels, Caesars properties, and vacation clubs
  • Price: From 500 points plus cash (500 to 9,000 points by tier)
  • Taxes and fees: Taxes and fees are not included and are paid on top of the cash portion.
  • Cash price: 6,000 points plus $251.30 before tax, against $396 after tax for the cash rate, at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Times Square South (Thu, Nov 12, 2026)

The catches:

  • Not every hotel offers it on every date.
  • Taxes aren’t included, unlike free nights.
  • Late cancellation forfeits the points, and you still owe the cash portion.

6. UK holiday cottages through Cottages.com

This is the one vacation-rental option left since Vacasa ended. A one-bedroom cottage costs the same points as a 15,000-point hotel room, and the booking fee is included.

  • What: Holiday cottages listed on Cottages.com (UK)
  • Price: 15,000 points per bedroom per night (2-night minimum)
  • Taxes and fees: Covers the rental rate, local taxes, and booking fee; linen, fuel, and pet charges may be extra.

The catches:

  • Phone booking only.
  • Blackout dates, and a minimum stay of at least two nights.
  • Some bookings can’t be cancelled or changed, and you lose the points if you cancel.
  • Phone only: Wyndham Rewards Vacation Rentals (UK), 1-866-232-8628, from the US and Canada.

4. Which Points Transfer to Wyndham

5. Finding a hotel’s tier

Wyndham doesn’t publish a list of hotels by tier. Search your dates on wyndhamhotels.com with ‘Wyndham Rewards Points’ selected, then use the points filter (5,000 / 15,000 / 30,000 / 45,000). Bookings made before Sept 15, 2026 kept their old price, and if a hotel moved to a cheaper tier, the difference was refunded automatically.

6. What to Skip

  • Moving points to Caesars Reward Credits (1:1, up to 30,000 a year, up to 14 days) when the goal is a Caesars hotel night, since you can book those directly with Wyndham points.
  • Gift cards, merchandise, gas, and airline tickets from the points catalog. Airline tickets booked with points are non-refundable and points aren’t returned on changes.
  • Paying cash for a Points + Cash night when a 5,000-point free night at the same hotel covers taxes too.
  • A 30,000-point night at a Las Vegas hotel that’s selling for around $100 in cash (Paris and Flamingo on Jan 13-14, 2027 were $107.65 and $65.70).
