Card benefits change often, and this page may be out of date by the time you read it. Always check the bank’s page and your card’s guide to benefits for the current terms before you rely on a benefit.

The AAdvantage Globe is Citi’s mid-tier American Airlines card, launched in October 2025: a $350 annual fee that isn’t waived, four Admirals Club passes a year, free checked bags and preferred boarding for up to 8 companions, and a domestic companion certificate from the second year.

It also has a $100 Splurge credit, a $100 inflight credit and a Turo credit, plus a Loyalty Points bonus for frequent American flyers. Below is what each credit takes, how the lounge passes work, the conflicting offers, and my verdict.

Citi AA Globe at a glance

  • Annual fee: $350; not waived the first year; authorized users at no charge
  • Current public offer: 90,000 AAdvantage miles after $5,000 in purchases in the first 4 months per Doctor of Credit; Frequent Miler lists 60,000 miles after $4,000. Check which one your application page shows before you apply. (as of October 14, 2026, per Doctor of Credit)
  • Is it the best ever?: 90,000 is the launch offer and the highest I know of (Doctor of Credit confirmed Citi’s link still showed it on September 29, 2026, and American’s own card site has carried it too). Don’t apply at 60,000 if 90,000 is still out there.
  • Foreign transaction fee: None
  • Best for: People who fly American a handful of times a year, want a few Admirals Club visits, and will use the companion certificate.
  • Skip it if: You only want the free bag and boarding: the Platinum Select gives you those for $99, waived the first year.
  • Bank’s page: AAdvantage Globe on citi.com

Unused passes expire at the end of the year.

Insurance and protections

BenefitWhat the bank says
Trip delayListed by name on Citi’s page; limits not published
One-way and award tickets: Not confirmed: I couldn’t find the Globe’s guide to benefits, and NerdWallet hadn’t reviewed its limits. On the AAdvantage Executive, an AA award with the taxes on the card counts and there’s no round-trip rule, but check the guide that comes with your Globe before relying on that.
Trip cancellation / interruptionEnhanced trip cancellation and interruption (common carrier) listed; limits not published
One-way and award tickets: Not confirmed for the Globe; see trip delay.
Lost or damaged luggageListed; limits not published
One-way and award tickets: Not confirmed for the Globe; see trip delay.
Baggage delayNone listed
MasterRental car rental coverageListed; Citi doesn’t say primary or secondary on the page (MasterRental on Citi’s other cards is secondary in the U.S. and primary abroad)
Extended warranty and Purchase Assurance PlusListed (limits in the guide to benefits)

Citi lists the Globe’s protections by name only, and neither Citi nor the reviews I checked (NerdWallet, CardRatings) publish its limits, so treat these as unverified until you read your guide to benefits.

Application rules for this card

  • The bonus isn’t available if you’ve received a Globe bonus in the last 48 months, or converted another Citi card that earned a bonus in the last 48 months into a Globe. That clock is separate from the other AAdvantage cards, so having the Platinum Select or Executive doesn’t block it (per Doctor of Credit).
  • Citi’s velocity rules apply: generally 1 Citi application every 8 days and no more than 2 in 65 days (Citi rules).

The full rules for every bank are in my credit card application rules guide.

My take

$350 that isn’t waived, minus the $100 inflight credit and the $100 Splurge credit (if you book an AAdvantage Hotels stay anyway), makes it about $150 in my eyes. For that you get four Admirals Club visits a year and, from year two, a companion certificate.

The Platinum Select gets you the bags and boarding for $99, free the first year, so the Globe only makes sense if the lounge passes and the companion certificate matter to you. The 90,000-mile offer makes the first year worth it; at 60,000 I’d skip it.

In any case, I personally would hate to sign up at 60,000 miles when 90,000 is available.

The catch

Four lounge passes isn’t a membership, and each guest uses up a pass. The companion certificate doesn’t start until your second year, so you have to pay the fee twice to get it. Its travel protections are listed by name only, so you don’t know the limits until you read the guide.

The Splurge list leaves out American Airlines and Best Buy (those are Strata Elite only), and the Turo credit takes eight trips a year to max out.

The Turo and Splurge credits are only worth something if you already spend there. Citi, like other banks with hard-to-use credits, counts on people forgetting to use them.

Keep it after year one?

The fee to me is $350 minus the easy $100 inflight credit and, if you’d book one AAdvantage Hotels stay, the $100 Splurge credit, which is about $150. Keep it if the four lounge visits and the companion certificate are worth that to you. If not, ask Citi to move you to the Platinum Select or the no-fee MileUp; changes within the AAdvantage family have generally worked, though reports vary (Frequent Miler, February 2026).

Offer history

The card launched in October 2025 with a 90,000-mile offer (Doctor of Credit). As of October 2026 Frequent Miler lists a lower 60,000-mile offer, so offers vary by link.
