Card benefits change often, and this page may be out of date by the time you read it. Always check the bank’s page and your card’s guide to benefits for the current terms before you rely on a benefit.

The Chase British Airways Visa Signature is a $95 card that earns Avios, with a statement credit of $100 to $200 on up to three British Airways award bookings a year, a Travel Together companion ticket after $30,000 of spend, 10% off BA flights from the U.S., and 2,500 Avios every anniversary.

Avios move freely between British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Qatar Airways and Finnair, so the bonus is really a Oneworld currency, and it often goes further outside British Airways itself. Below is how the card earns, what each credit takes, the protections in Chase’s own numbers, and my verdict.

Chase British Airways at a glance

  • Annual fee: $95
  • Current public offer: 90,000 Avios after $5,000 in purchases in the first 3 months (as of October 14, 2026, per Frequent Miler)
  • Is it the best ever?: No. It has been 100,000 Avios after the same $5,000 (in 2025). Chase’s own card page showed 75,000 on October 14, 2026, so the 90,000 offer may depend on the link you apply through.
  • Foreign transaction fee: None
  • Best for: People who’ll redeem Avios on short American or Alaska flights, Iberia to Spain, Aer Lingus to Ireland or Qatar, and anyone who books British Airways awards from the U.S. often enough to use the award credit.
  • Skip it if: You’re near 5/24 and don’t have a plan for Avios. You can also get Avios by transferring Chase, Amex, Capital One or Citi points.
  • Bank’s page: British Airways Visa Signature on chase.com

Avios post to your British Airways Club account after each billing cycle (a U.S. address is required). Avios from the card don’t count toward British Airways tier status. They stay alive as long as your account has some activity every 36 months, and card spending counts.

Credits and how to use them

There’s no credit that offsets the fee automatically. The award flight credit is valuable, but only for one type of booking.

CreditAmountHow oftenWhere / howThe catch
Award flight credit$100 economy/premium economy, $200 business/firstUp to 3 bookings per calendar year (max $600)Pay the taxes, fees and carrier charges on a British Airways award booking with the cardOnly on transatlantic awards that start in the U.S. and fly British Airways aircraft across the Atlantic. It’s per booking, not per passenger, and Avios Part Payment bookings don’t count. BA’s carrier charges on these flights are often several hundred dollars each way, so the credit takes the edge off rather than making them cheap.
Travel Together TicketOne companion award, or 50% off a solo awardOnce per calendar yearSpend $30,000 on the card in a calendar year; book a British Airways, Iberia or Aer Lingus award on ba.comSpend-gated, and the companion still pays full taxes, fees and carrier charges, which on British Airways can be large. Perks

  • Travel Together Ticket, explained: once you’ve spent $30,000 in a calendar year, you get a voucher that lets a companion fly on the same award flights with you without using more Avios (or, if you travel alone, cuts the Avios price of a solo award by 50%). It works on any route and cabin on British Airways, Iberia or Aer Lingus booked on ba.com, but the companion pays their own taxes and carrier charges.
  • 10% off British Airways flights from the U.S. for you and up to 7 others on the same booking, through the cardmember link.
  • No lounge access, free checked bags or priority boarding.

Insurance and protections

BenefitWhat the bank says
Auto rental collision damage waiverUp to $60,000 per the guide to benefits; secondary in the U.S. if you have other insurance, primary outside the U.S.
Trip cancellation / interruptionNone (not in the guide)
Trip delayNone (not in the guide)
Baggage delayUp to $100 a day for up to 3 days after a 6-hour delay
One-way and award tickets: Yes to both: the guide’s trip definition covers round-trip or one-way fares paid all or in part with the card or Chase rewards, so an Avios award with the taxes on the card counts.
Lost luggageUp to $3,000 per covered traveler (for New York residents, $2,000 per bag and $10,000 per trip)
One-way and award tickets: Yes to both, same rule as baggage delay.
Travel accident insuranceUp to $500,000 on common carrier travel paid with the card, per the guide
Purchase protection120 days, up to $500 per item (90 days for New York residents)
Extended warrantyAdds one year to U.S. warranties of three years or less

Amounts are from Chase’s card page; rental car, travel accident and the one-way and award ticket rules come from Chase’s Visa Signature Guide to Benefits linked from the card page (effective 10/01/24).

Transfer partners

Avios are one currency shared by several airlines. You can move them 1:1 between your British Airways Club account and Iberia Club, Aer Lingus AerClub, Qatar Airways Privilege Club and Finnair Plus, so you can earn with this card and book wherever the price is lowest: Iberia business class to Madrid, Aer Lingus to Dublin, Qatar Qsuites, or short American and Alaska flights through British Airways. Chase Ultimate Rewards points also transfer to British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus; ratios for every bank are in my transfer partners guide.

Application rules for this card

  • The card isn’t available if you have it now, or if you received a new cardmember bonus on this card in the last 24 months (Chase’s offer terms, checked October 14, 2026). The rule is per card, so the Iberia and Aer Lingus cards each have their own bonus, which is why people get all three.
  • Chase’s 5/24 rule applies: you’ll be denied if you’ve opened 5 or more personal cards from any bank in the last 24 months.

The full rules for every bank are in my credit card application rules guide.

My take

A $95 fee with no easy credit to offset it, so the real fee is $95 in my eyes. The card is really about the bonus: 90,000 Avios is a lot of short-haul American flights or a business class seat to Spain on Iberia.

The award flight credit is the one ongoing perk worth something, but only if you book British Airways awards from the U.S. across the Atlantic, where BA’s carrier charges are high. If you do that once a year in business class, the $200 credit pays for the card twice. The Travel Together Ticket needs $30,000 of spend, which I wouldn’t put on a card that earns 1x on most purchases.

In any case, I personally would hate to sign up at 90,000 Avios when 100,000 was available in the past.

The catch

British Airways adds heavy carrier charges to its own long-haul awards, often hundreds of dollars each way, so Avios are better spent on American short-haul flights, Iberia to Spain, Aer Lingus to Ireland and Qatar Qsuites. The award credit and the companion ticket both point you at BA’s most expensive awards.

There’s no trip delay or trip cancellation coverage, the rental car coverage is secondary in the U.S., and everyday earning is 1x outside BA, Aer Lingus, Iberia and hotels.

Keep it after year one?

The fee to me is $95 minus nothing easy, which equals $95. Keep it only if you’ll use the award flight credit on at least one British Airways transatlantic award a year, or you value the 2,500 anniversary Avios and the 10% discount enough. Otherwise I would cancel after the first year rather than pay $95 for a card that earns 1x.

Quick Answers

What is the British Airways Visa annual fee?

$95 a year as of October 2026. It isn’t waived the first year.

What is the current British Airways card bonus?

As of October 14, 2026 Frequent Miler lists 90,000 Avios after $5,000 in purchases in the first 3 months, while Chase’s own page showed 75,000, so the offer depends on the link. It has been 100,000 Avios before.

Can I use British Airways Avios on Iberia, Aer Lingus or Qatar?

Yes. Avios move 1:1 between British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Qatar Airways and Finnair, so you can book on whichever program has the best price.

How does the British Airways reward flight credit work?

Pay the taxes and fees on a British Airways award booking with the card and you get $100 back in economy or premium economy, or $200 in business or first, up to three bookings a year. The trip must cross the Atlantic from the U.S. on British Airways aircraft.

Can I get the British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus card bonuses?

Yes. Each card’s bonus rule only looks at that card, so you can earn all three, but each one counts toward Chase’s 5/24 rule.
