The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless is Chase’s mid-tier Marriott card: a $95 annual fee, a Free Night Award worth up to 35,000 points every account anniversary, automatic Silver Elite status, 15 Elite Night Credits a year, and 6x at Marriott hotels.
The current offer is three free nights at hotels up to 50,000 points each, plus up to $100 in airline credits. Marriott has some of the most complicated card rules of any hotel program because Chase and Amex both issue Marriott cards, so below I go through those, along with how it earns, what each credit takes, the protections, and my verdict.
Marriott Boundless at a glance
- Annual fee: $95
- Current public offer: 3 Free Night Awards (each at a hotel up to 50,000 points a night) after $3,000 in purchases in the first 3 months, plus up to $100 in airline statement credits (as of October 14, 2026, per Frequent Miler)
- Is it the best ever?: No. Until March 2026 it was five 50,000-point free nights plus the $100 airline credit, the best this card has had, so if you’re not in a hurry it may be worth waiting for that to come back.
- Foreign transaction fee: None
- Best for: People who stay at a Marriott at least once a year and will use a 35,000-point night, and anyone who wants Silver status and a head start on Gold or Platinum.
- Skip it if: You don’t stay at Marriott, you’ve had an Amex Marriott card bonus in the last 24 months (you won’t get this bonus), or you’d rather earn flexible points.

The highlights
- Free Night Award up to 35,000 points every account anniversary (resort fees still apply)

- Up to $100 in airline credits: $50 after $250 in direct airline purchases in each half-year window, through 6/30/2027 for new cardmembers

- 12 months of DashPass (then it auto-renews at the paid rate) plus $10 off one non-restaurant DoorDash order per quarter, through 12/31/2027

How it earns
| Category | Rate | Caps and fine print |
|---|---|---|
| Marriott Bonvoy hotels | 6x | Plus up to 10x as a Marriott Bonvoy member and up to 1x for Silver Elite, for up to 17x total. |
| Grocery stores, gas stations and dining | 3x | On the first $6,000 a year in combined purchases, then 2x. Dining includes takeout and eligible delivery. |
| Everything else | 2x | Including other travel. |
Points go to your Marriott Bonvoy account after each billing cycle. They don’t expire as long as you have card purchases or other qualifying Marriott activity at least every 24 months. Marriott uses dynamic award pricing, so the value of a point (and of a 35,000-point certificate) changes from hotel to hotel and date to date.
Credits and how to use them
The anniversary night is what makes the fee worth it. Here’s what each one takes.
| Credit | Amount | How often | Where / how | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Anniversary Free Night Award | 1 night up to 35,000 points | Every account anniversary | Deposited within about 8 weeks of your anniversary | Expires 12 months after it’s issued. You pay incidentals and mandatory resort fees. Marriott’s program rules let you add up to 15,000 of your own points to use it at a more expensive hotel (that’s a Marriott rule, not on Chase’s page). |
| Airline credit, first half | $50 | June 4–December 31, 2026 (new cardmembers) | Spend $250 directly with airlines in the window; credit posts automatically | Easy if you buy a flight anyway; it’s a limited-time offer, not a permanent benefit. |
| Airline credit, second half | $50 | January 1–June 30, 2027 | Another $250 directly with airlines | Ends 6/30/2027. Existing cardmembers had their own 2026 windows (one-time activation needed). |
| DashPass membership | 12 months free | Once | Activate by 12/31/2027 with the card as your DoorDash payment method | After 12 months you’re automatically enrolled at the then-current monthly rate until you cancel. |
| DoorDash promo (non-restaurant) | $10 off one order a quarter | Each calendar quarter | One grocery, convenience or other non-restaurant order, while enrolled in DashPass | Restaurant orders don’t qualify, and it doesn’t roll over. Through 12/31/2027. |
Status and other perks
- Silver Elite status every year you have the card. Silver is Marriott’s first elite tier: mostly bonus points on stays and priority late checkout when available.
- 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year, plus 1 more for every $5,000 in purchases. Since Gold needs 25 nights and Platinum 50, the card gets you more than halfway to Gold before you stay a night.
- Gold Elite status if you spend $35,000 on the card in a calendar year (it resets each January 1).
- Visa Signature Concierge, 24 hours a day.
- No lounge access; no foreign transaction fees.
Insurance and protections
Green highlights mark where this card is at the top of the cards I review.
| Benefit | What the bank says |
|---|---|
| Trip delay | Up to $500 per covered traveler after a delay of more than 12 hours or an overnight stay One-way and award tickets: Yes to both: the guide covers a round-trip or one-way common carrier fare charged all or in part to the card (or paid with its rewards), so an award ticket with the taxes on the card counts. |
| Baggage delay | Top tier: up to $100 a day for up to 5 days after a 6-hour delay (most cards with this cap it at 3 days) One-way and award tickets: Yes to both, same payment rule as trip delay. |
| Lost luggage | Up to $3,000 per covered traveler (New York residents: $2,000 per bag, $10,000 per trip) One-way and award tickets: Yes to both, same payment rule as trip delay. |
| Trip cancellation / interruption | None listed One-way and award tickets: Not covered on this card. |
| Purchase protection | 120 days, up to $500 per item (90 days for New York residents) |
| Auto rental collision damage waiver | Not listed on the card page. The Chase Visa Signature guide the page links includes secondary coverage in the U.S. (primary abroad) up to $60,000, so check the guide Chase sends you before relying on it. |
Coverage rules for one-way and award tickets come from the Chase Guide to Benefits for Visa Signature cards that the Boundless page links (effective 10/01/24); it’s a shared guide, so confirm in the one you receive.

Application rules for this card
- You can’t get this card if you currently have, or got a bonus in the last 24 months on, any Chase Marriott personal card: the Boundless, the Bold, or the older Marriott Rewards Premier and Premier Plus cards (per the card page).
- Amex Marriott cards also matter. Per Chase’s page, you won’t get the bonus if you have or had the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card (the old personal Amex) in the last 30 days, if you were approved for the Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business, Brilliant or Bevy in the last 90 days, or if you got a bonus or upgrade bonus on one of those in the last 24 months. Amex’s terms work the same way in reverse, so opening a Boundless can block an Amex Marriott bonus for 90 days to 24 months (Amex rules).
- Chase’s 5/24 rule applies: you’ll be denied if you’ve opened 5 or more personal cards from any bank in the last 24 months.
The full rules for every bank are in my credit card application rules guide.
My take
The fee to me is $95 minus the 35,000-point anniversary night, which is usually worth more than $95 at a mid-range Marriott, so the real fee is about zero or better if you stay at Marriott once a year. In the first year, the $100 in airline credits is also easy money if you buy a flight directly with an airline in each window.
Three 50,000-point nights is a good bonus for a $95 card, and it can cover a long weekend at most mid-range Marriotts. Marriott points have lost value year after year with dynamic pricing, though, so I’d use the certificates rather than hold onto them.
Before you apply, check the Amex rules above: if you’ve had a Brilliant or Bevy bonus in the last two years, you won’t get this one.
In any case, I personally would hate to sign up at three free nights when five were available as recently as March 2026.
The catch
A 35,000-point certificate doesn’t go far at many city hotels anymore, so you may need to top it up with your own points, and you still pay resort fees. The airline credit is temporary (it ends in mid-2027), and there’s no trip cancellation coverage or listed rental car coverage.
The Chase/Amex Marriott rules are easy to trip over: one Amex Marriott bonus in the last 24 months, or an Amex Marriott approval in the last 90 days, means no bonus here.
The DoorDash promo is truly bad unless you already order groceries through DoorDash; Chase, like other banks, hopes that you forget to use it.
Keep it after year one?
The fee to me is $95 minus a 35,000-point free night, which comes out ahead for anyone who stays at Marriott once a year. If you use the night, I’d keep it. If you stop staying at Marriott, the no-fee Marriott Bonvoy Bold is the usual product change, so you keep Silver status and your account history without the fee (you lose the anniversary night).

Quick Answers
$95 a year as of October 2026. It isn’t waived the first year. The anniversary Free Night Award (up to 35,000 points) usually covers it.
As of October 14, 2026 the offer is 3 Free Night Awards (each at a hotel up to 50,000 points) after $3,000 in purchases in the first 3 months, plus up to $100 in airline credits. It was five free nights until March 2026.
Holding an Amex Brilliant, Bevy or Bonvoy Business card is fine, but you won’t get the bonus if you were approved for one in the last 90 days or got a bonus on one in the last 24 months, or if you have (or had in the last 30 days) the old Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card.
No. Chase’s page says the Boundless isn’t available if you currently have the Bold (or another Chase Marriott personal card), or got one’s bonus in the last 24 months.
Yes, under Marriott’s program rules you can add up to 15,000 of your own points to a free night certificate, so a 35,000-point night can be used at a hotel costing up to 50,000 points.
