Card benefits change often, and this page may be out of date by the time you read it. Always check the bank’s page and your card’s guide to benefits for the current terms before you rely on a benefit.

The World of Hyatt Credit Card is Chase’s Hyatt co-brand card: a $95 annual fee, a free night at any Category 1–4 Hyatt every cardmember anniversary (and a second one after $15,000 in spending in a calendar year), automatic Discoverist status, and 4x at Hyatt.

Hyatt points are some of the most valuable hotel points around, and the anniversary night alone covers the fee for most people who stay at Hyatt even once a year. Below is how it earns, what the free nights take, the status and night credits, the protections (including the ones it doesn’t have), and my verdict.

World of Hyatt at a glance

  • Annual fee: $95
  • Current public offer: 30,000 points after $3,000 in purchases in the first 3 months, plus 1 extra point per $1 on up to $15,000 in purchases in the first 6 months (up to 45,000 bonus points) (as of October 14, 2026, per Frequent Miler)
  • Is it the best ever?: No. Until February 2026 it offered three Category 1–4 free nights plus two more after $15,000 in spending, the best this card has had. Chase’s page says “up to 60,000,” but that counts the 1 point per dollar you’d earn anyway; the extra is 15,000.
  • Foreign transaction fee: None
  • Best for: Anyone who stays at a Hyatt at least once a year and will use the anniversary night, and anyone working toward Hyatt status.
  • Skip it if: You don’t stay at Hyatt (the free night only works at Category 1–4 Hyatts), or you want strong travel insurance, since there’s no trip delay coverage.
  • Bank’s page: World of Hyatt Credit Card on chase.com

Credits and how to use them

The free nights are why people keep this card. Here’s what each one takes.

Status and other perks

  • Discoverist status for as long as the card is open. Discoverist is Hyatt’s first elite tier, so think of it as small extras (such as bonus points and late checkout when available) rather than upgrades to suites. Authorized users don’t get it.
  • 5 tier-qualifying night credits each calendar year, plus 2 more for every $5,000 in purchases with no stated limit. That’s how this card helps you reach Explorist (30 nights) or Globalist (60 nights) faster.
  • Visa Signature Concierge, 24 hours a day.
  • No lounge access; no foreign transaction fees.

Insurance and protections

Green highlights mark where this card is at the top of the cards I review.

BenefitWhat the bank says
Trip cancellation / interruptionUp to $5,000 per covered traveler and $10,000 per trip for prepaid, non-refundable travel (fares, tours, hotels)
One-way and award tickets: Chase’s card page doesn’t link a guide for this card. In Chase’s guides for its other cards with this coverage, trips paid all or in part with the card or points count, round trip or one-way; confirm in the guide Chase sends you.
Trip delayNone listed
One-way and award tickets: Not covered, so a one-way or award ticket question doesn’t apply.
Baggage delayTop tier: up to $100 a day for up to 5 days after a 6-hour delay (most cards with this cap it at 3 days)
One-way and award tickets: Not stated for this card; Chase’s Visa Signature guide covers round-trip or one-way fares paid all or in part with the card or points, so award taxes on the card should count. Confirm in your guide.
Lost luggageUp to $3,000 per covered traveler (New York residents: $2,000 per bag, $10,000 per trip)
One-way and award tickets: Same as baggage delay: Chase’s Visa Signature guide covers one-way and award fares paid at least in part with the card or points; confirm in your guide.
Auto rental collision damage waiverSecondary to your personal insurance in the U.S.
Purchase protection120 days, up to $500 per item (90 days for New York residents)

The World of Hyatt card page lists these benefits but doesn’t link its Guide to Benefits, so the one-way and award ticket notes come from Chase’s guides for its other Visa Signature cards (effective 10/01/24); treat them as likely, not confirmed.

Application rules for this card

  • You can’t get this card if you have it open now, and the bonus isn’t available if you received a World of Hyatt card bonus in the last 24 months (per the card page). The World of Hyatt Business card is a separate product.
  • Chase’s 5/24 rule applies: you’ll be denied if you’ve opened 5 or more personal cards from any bank in the last 24 months.

The full rules for every bank are in my credit card application rules guide.

My take

The fee to me is $95 minus the anniversary night, and a Category 1–4 Hyatt night is usually worth well over $95 if you’d otherwise pay cash, so the real fee is below zero for anyone who stays at a Hyatt once a year. That’s what makes this one of the easiest cards in my eyes to keep long-term.

Day-to-day earning is weak outside Hyatt (2x at restaurants and a few other categories, 1x everywhere else), so most people should put their regular spending on a Chase Ultimate Rewards card instead and transfer to Hyatt when needed: 1:1 from a Sapphire Reserve, 4:3 from a Sapphire Preferred. The exception is if you’re chasing status, since every $5,000 earns 2 night credits.

The current bonus is the ordinary one, and Hyatt points are valuable enough that 45,000 still buys two to four nights at good Hyatts.

In any case, I personally would hate to sign up at 30,000 points plus the spending bonus when three free nights (plus two more after $15,000) were available in early 2026.

The catch

The free night is Category 1–4 only, so it won’t get you into the top Park Hyatts or the all-inclusive Ziva and Zilara resorts, and it expires 12 months after it’s issued. The second night needs $15,000 a year of spending on a card that earns 1x on most purchases, which is an expensive way to earn a hotel night.

There’s no trip delay coverage at all, and the rental car coverage is secondary in the U.S., so this isn’t the card to pay for flights or rentals with.

The DoorDash promo is the only coupon-style perk, and it’s truly bad unless you already order groceries through DoorDash; Chase, like other banks, hopes that you forget to use it.

Keep it after year one?

The fee to me is $95 minus a Category 1–4 free night, which comes out ahead for almost anyone who stays at Hyatt. If you use the night every year, I’d keep it indefinitely. If you no longer stay at Hyatt, there’s no no-fee Hyatt version to downgrade to, so ask Chase what it can move you to before closing it.

Quick Answers

What is the World of Hyatt card annual fee?

$95 a year as of October 2026. It isn’t waived the first year. The anniversary Category 1–4 free night usually covers it.

What is the current World of Hyatt card bonus?

As of October 14, 2026 the offer is 30,000 points after $3,000 in purchases in the first 3 months, plus 1 extra point per $1 on up to $15,000 in the first 6 months, for up to 45,000 bonus points. Chase advertises it as up to 60,000 because it counts the points you’d earn anyway.

Where can I use the World of Hyatt free night?

At any Category 1–4 Hyatt hotel or resort in a standard room, within 12 months of issue. It isn’t valid at Miraval, Hyatt Zilara or Hyatt Ziva resorts.

Does the World of Hyatt card have trip delay insurance?

No. Chase lists trip cancellation and interruption, baggage delay, lost luggage, purchase protection and secondary rental coverage, but no trip delay reimbursement.

Is it better to earn Hyatt points with this card or with Chase Ultimate Rewards?

For everyday spending, usually Ultimate Rewards: the Sapphire Reserve transfers to Hyatt at 1:1 and earns more outside Hyatt. The Sapphire Preferred now transfers at 4:3. This card is worth holding mainly for the free night and status.
