Card benefits change often, and this page may be out of date by the time you read it. Always check the bank’s page and your card’s guide to benefits for the current terms before you rely on a benefit.

The JetBlue Plus Card is Barclays’ mid-tier JetBlue credit card: a $99 annual fee, 6x points on JetBlue, a free first checked bag for you and up to 3 companions, 5,000 bonus points every anniversary and 10% of your points back when you fly an award.

It’s a simple airline card with no lounge access and no travel insurance worth mentioning, so the question is just whether you fly JetBlue enough for the bags and the anniversary points to beat the fee. Below is how it earns, what each perk is actually worth, Barclays’ approval quirks, and my verdict.

JetBlue Plus at a glance

  • Annual fee: $99
  • Current public offer: 75,000 points after $1,000 in purchases and paying the $99 annual fee, both within the first 90 days (as of October 14, 2026, per Doctor of Credit)
  • Is it the best ever?: No, but it’s close for the spend. It was 100,000 points in 2020–21 (50,000 after $1,000, plus 50,000 more after $6,000 in a year) and 80,000 in 2025 (60,000 plus 20,000 after $6,000 in a year). For only $1,000 of spend, 75,000 is about as good as it has been. Barclays’ own page currently shows 70,000; Doctor of Credit reports the 75,000 version through JetBlue’s link.
  • Foreign transaction fee: None
  • Best for: People who fly JetBlue a few times a year, especially with family or friends who’d otherwise pay for checked bags on JetBlue-operated flights.
  • Skip it if: You rarely fly JetBlue, or you want travel insurance or lounge access from your airline card. This one has neither.

The highlights

  • Top tier: 6x on JetBlue purchases, the highest own-airline rate of the airline cards I review (the next best is 4x); 2x restaurants and eligible grocery stores, 1x elsewhere
  • Free first checked bag for you and up to 3 companions on the same itinerary, JetBlue-operated flights only (codeshares and partner flights don’t count)
  • 5,000 bonus points every account anniversary
  • 10% of your points back after you redeem for and fly a JetBlue-operated award flight
  • $100 statement credit after buying a JetBlue Vacations package of $100 or more, once a year
  • 50% off eligible inflight purchases on JetBlue-operated flights
  • Every purchase earns Tiles toward Mosaic status (1 Tile per $1,000, Mosaic 1 at 50 Tiles)
  • Points never expire; points pooling; Cash + Points from 500 points; no foreign transaction fees; no travel insurance listed

How it earns

CategoryRateCaps and fine print
Eligible JetBlue purchases6xNo cap. JetBlue airfare, JetBlue Vacations and other purchases made directly with JetBlue; other airlines earn 1x.
Restaurants and eligible grocery stores2xNo cap.
Everything else1x—

TrueBlue points are usually worth somewhere around 1.3 cents each on JetBlue flights, since the number of points an award costs moves with the cash fare. Points never expire, and you can pool them with family and friends.

Credits and how to use them

There’s no general travel credit here; these are the recurring perks with a dollar value attached.

CreditAmountHow oftenWhere / howThe catch
Anniversary bonus5,000 pointsEach year after your account anniversaryAutomaticWorth roughly $65 in JetBlue flights in my eyes. The easiest part of the card.
JetBlue Vacations credit$100Once per yearStatement credit after you buy a JetBlue Vacations package of $100 or more with the cardOnly useful if you’d book a flight-plus-hotel package through JetBlue Vacations anyway; a regular JetBlue flight doesn’t count.
Award rebate10% of the pointsEvery award flightPosts after you redeem for and travel on a JetBlue-operated award flightPartner awards don’t count.

Bags, status and other perks

  • Free first checked bag for the primary cardmember and up to 3 eligible companions on the same itinerary, when you use the card on JetBlue-operated flights. Codeshares and partner-operated flights aren’t eligible.
  • 50% savings on eligible inflight purchases (food and drinks) on JetBlue-operated flights.
  • Tiles toward Mosaic: Mosaic is JetBlue’s elite status, and it’s earned in Tiles rather than miles. The card earns 1 Tile per $1,000 you spend (per NerdWallet’s reading of JetBlue’s rules), and Mosaic 1 takes 50 Tiles, so about $50,000 of spend on the card alone. Barclays notes Mosaic may not be achievable depending on your credit line.
  • No blackout dates on JetBlue-operated award flights; award prices follow the cash fare.
  • Cash + Points: pay for a flight with almost any mix of dollars and points, starting at 500 points.
  • Points pooling: share points with family and friends in one pool.
  • Points Payback: redeem points for a statement credit (usually worse than using them on flights).

Barclays’ page for this World Elite Mastercard lists no travel or purchase insurance, so I wouldn’t count on any. If you want trip delay or rental car coverage, pay with a card that has it in writing.

Application rules for this card

  • Barclays’ terms say the bonus can only be earned once, and that you may not be eligible if you “currently have or previously had an account with us in this program.” In practice that hasn’t been strictly enforced, and about 6 months after closing the same card is the usual practice (details).
  • Barclays is sensitive to recent accounts: there’s an unofficial 6/24 (6 or more new cards from any bank in 24 months), not consistently enforced, and roughly one new Barclays card every 6 months is the norm (per Doctor of Credit’s data points).
  • Using the Barclays cards you already have helps; long-dormant ones reportedly hurt. Barclays almost always pulls TransUnion.

The full rules for every bank are in my credit card application rules guide.

My take

A $99 fee, but the 5,000 anniversary points are worth about $65 in my eyes, which makes it more like a $35 card. If you check even one bag round trip once a year (or one bag for a companion), it pays for itself, and with up to 3 companions on the same itinerary it can save a family a lot more than that.

The bonus is the real reason to get it. 75,000 points for $1,000 of spend is one of the lowest spend requirements for a bonus this size, and in my eyes it’s worth around $1,000 in JetBlue flights. 6x on JetBlue is also the best own-airline earning rate of the airline cards I review, though I’d still put everyday spending on a card that earns transferable points.

In any case, I personally would hate to sign up at 75,000 when 100,000 was available in the past, though that offer needed $6,000 of spend, so for most people today’s version is the better deal.

The catch

JetBlue’s network is limited outside the East Coast, so this card only makes sense if JetBlue actually flies where you live. The free bag works only on JetBlue-operated flights, so codeshares and partner flights don’t count.

Barclays is picky with approvals if you’ve opened a lot of cards recently, and there’s no travel insurance on this card at all. The $100 JetBlue Vacations credit only helps if you already book JetBlue Vacations packages, and like other banks with niche credits, Barclays is counting on most people never using it.

Keep it after year one?

The fee to me is $99 minus the 5,000 anniversary points (about $65), which is roughly $35 a year, and one checked bag round trip covers that. If you fly JetBlue at least once a year and check a bag, keep it. If you don’t, ask Barclays about moving to the no-fee JetBlue Card (Barclays generally allows downgrades to its no-fee versions) rather than paying for bags you won’t check.

The highest offer I know of was 100,000 points in early 2021 (50,000 after $1,000 in 90 days plus 50,000 after $6,000 in 12 months).
